Sandeep Maheshwari

Sandeep Maheshwari has more than 33 years of cross-functional experience in the stainless steel and carbon steel industry.

He most recently served as Executive Director and Board Member at Viraj Profiles Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, where he led all operational and technical matters. He improved group productivity by over 25% without significant capital expenditure. Sandeep has also driven initiatives to reduce carbon footprints and has led initiatives to make stainless steel manufacturing more green and sustainable.

Prior to Viraj, Sandeep was CEO of African Steel Mills (ASM), Lagos, within African Industries Group, Nigeria. He led business expansions, introduced new low-cost products such as rebars and sections, and optimized operational efficiency, resulting in substantial revenue and profit growth.

Earlier, Sandeep spent about 28 years at Jindal Stainless Limited, holding key leadership roles in business and product development, R&D, quality assurance, and operations across multiple locations. He has worked closely with government bodies including the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Research Design & Standards Organisation (RDSO), Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), and Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to promote and develop indigenous stainless steel for critical applications. He is also a Life Member of IIM (Indian Institute of Metals) and has served as Chairman of IIM, Hisar Chapter.

Sandeep holds an M.Tech in Process Metallurgy from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (1991).

Outside of work, Sandeep is an avid reader and enjoys travelling.
